Constable's Quail by HanMonster Constable's Quail by HanMonster
... or maybe it was some kind of chicken.

After a very long two days in Kansas visiting my relatives (lol WUT FUN... rly), I figured it was time to toss up another upload or two.

Bird concentration again-- based on some cloud work by Constable (I forgot the era), whose technical skill I've always admired... even if he did paint somewhat hokey, idealistic rural settings.

This was a bit of a quickie, with loose, free, thick impressionistic strokes to mimic the texture of feathers. I rather like how it turned out, actually... though the scrap paper I used didn't hold up to watery acrylic very well.

Do not steal/redistribute, yadda yadda. <3

... Oh god THE GYPSIES. *ded from reference*

But... ahahaha yes. Do not ask. It was so epic that I fear your brain might break.

Case in point, NEVAR AGAIN... 'til next time. KANSAS IS A SCARY PLACE OKAY. D:

That's why I'm never going there again! They scared the hell out of me last time I went. ;.;

I'll stay in Germany. LOL.

The feathers are simply amazing. I've never heard of water acrylics, but I spose you learn something new every day, right? Beautiful work. :heart:

hurhurhur. XD Actually, it was just plain old acrylic with a crapload of water mixed in to make it semi-transparent. You should try the technique sometime; I actually found that you can get a nearly-but-not-quite opaque watercolor effect with it.

... Just make sure you use paper that won't crinkle up and warp like all hell when it's soaked. >_>' That's the only not fun part.
